Opportunity Center Assistant (Part-time), (Fond du Lac)

ADVOCAP, Inc., is an established, recognized leader with over 50 years of experience in delivering effective anti-poverty and self-sufficiency programs and services. We are a private, nonprofit Community Action Agency committed to our mission of “creating opportunities for people and communities to reduce poverty and increase self-sufficiency.”

ADVOCAP’s Opportunity Center is recruiting for a part-time Assistant position. We are seeking a highly motivated individual who will make a difference in the lives of people who are struggling with poverty, homelessness, and other barriers to self-sufficiency. This position will provide voluntary, direct services and advocacy needed to ensure visitors have access to resources to meet basic needs and begin their journey to greater self-sufficiency. This position will be critical for documenting the effectiveness of the Center. Provide the resources needed to meet the needs of those with multiple barriers to self-sufficiency.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
  • Establish an inviting, respectful environment for a non-judgmental, trusting relationship with visitors.
  • Triage visitor crisis and needs and connects with solutions, while removing barriers and bonding with those served.
  • Guide, coach, and engage participants on their journey toward their self-sufficiency goals.
  • Document individual needs, action plans, services provided, and outcomes achieved.
  • Identify gaps in community services and contribute to finding solutions.
  • Maintain accurate records of participant progress and prepare internal and external reports.
  • Build trusting relationships with individuals, other ADVOCAP programs, and community organizations.
  • Maintain knowledge by keeping up to date on community resources and referral processes.
  • Track outcomes and document program outcomes and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Deliver services and maintain behavior and character consistent with ADVOCAP’s Corporate Values.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:

This role involves significant experience working with individuals within human or social services, focusing on providing direct support, guidance, and resource connections. A critical component of this position is maintaining thorough and
accurate daily documentation of all actions and interactions to ensure consistency, track progress, and support collaborative efforts among service providers. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage records that contribute to quality case management and reporting.

  • MS Office, data software experience, and report preparation are vital to the program’s success
  • Possess an understanding of poverty and the ability to be non-judgmental with those served
  • Ability to develop positive, growth-directed relationships with individuals and families in poverty
  • Knowledge of and experience in utilizing community resources to help people in need
  • Acceptable drug screen and comprehensive background check required
  • Reliable attendance and professional work ethic
SALARY & BENEFITS

This part-time position will begin immediately and will work 20 hours per week, Monday—Thursday. Starting wage is $18.17 per hour, dependent upon experience.
