Accounts Payable Specialist – FT

ADVOCAP, Inc is an established, recognized leader with over 50 years of experience in delivering effective anti-poverty and self-sufficiency programs and services. We are a private, nonprofit Community Action Agency committed to our mission of “creating opportunities for people and communities to reduce poverty and increase self-sufficiency.”

We are seeking an individual to join our team as our Accounts Payable Specialist. This position will process accounts payable and maintain accounting files.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Match vendor invoices with Agency purchase orders following the proper levels of authorization
  • Verify the proper use of accounting codes on invoices
  • Enter invoices into accounting system and maintain data files
  • Prepare accounts payable checks for signature by authorized check signers and process checks for mailing and filing
  • Maintain A/P filing by check number
  • Monitor cash log to ensure that receipt numbers are sequential
  • Enter cash deposits into the accounting system
  • Maintain cash register showing the cash on hand
  • Prepare draw requests on constructions loans. Maintain spread-sheet to track these expenditures
  • Collect and maintain W-9 forms, MBE/WBE forms and information
  • Assist with year-end audit
  • Gather information and prepare the 1099 forms
  • Other ad-hoc duties as defined
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • An Associate’s degree in accounting, finance , or a related field is preferred
  • Prior experience in accounts payable or a similar financial role is beneficial
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite and data entry skills are essential
  • Demonstrates attention to detail
  • Exhibits effective communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently
  • Acceptable drug screen and comprehensive background check.
SALARY & BENEFITS

36-hour full time work week position with a starting pay of $21+ per hour. This full-time position will have access to health, dental, vision, life, short- and long-term disability, vacation, sick and holiday pay, and our employer-contribution 401k.
