Celebrating our Executive Director: Tanya Marcoe Earns CCAP Credential

posted July 14, 2025

ADVOCAP is thrilled to share that our Executive Director, Tanya Marcoe, has officially earned the Certified Community Action Professional (CCAP) credential!

This significant achievement reflects Tanya’s dedication to Community Action and her commitment to the mission of supporting individuals and families experiencing poverty. The CCAP credential is a nationally recognized symbol of professional excellence in the Community Action Network, awarded to individuals who have demonstrated comprehensive knowledge, leadership skills, and strategic thinking essential for driving meaningful change in their communities.

What is CCAP?

The Certified Community Action Professional program is designed to:

  • Transcend generations by passing on the vision and values of the Community Action movement.
  • Guide and support leadership development within the Community Action Network.
  • Solidify Community Action as a true calling, not just a profession.
  • Recognize and elevate the professional status of those that earn CCAP.
  • Bring the Promise of Community Action to life, every day, in communities across the nation.

To earn this designation, Tanya completed a rigorous, multi-phase process that included a proctored exam, and an in-depth written assessment focused on modern poverty-reduction strategies.

What this means for ADVOCAP

Tanya’s CCAP certification not only celebrates her personal dedication but also positions ADVOCAP for even greater impact. This achievement:

  • Enhances the credibility and leadership capacity of our organization.
  • Demonstrates a deep alignment with the values and strategies of the Community Action movement.
  • Reinforces our ongoing commitment to professional development and innovation in the fight against poverty.
  • Inspires our team and community partners by showing that lifelong learning and growth are central to effective leadership.

Tanya’s Perspective

“Becoming a Certified Community Action Professional has been both a professional milestone and a personal commitment. The CCAP journey challenged me to reflect, refine, and deepen my understanding of the systems that shape poverty — and how we, as leaders, can dismantle barriers and strengthen communities. I’m honored to carry this designation and excited to keep moving forward with fresh energy as part of ADVOCAP and the Community Action Network.”

Please join us in congratulating Tanya on this achievement! This credential adds another layer of expertise to her role as Executive Director, helping strengthen ADVOCAP’s impact in the community.
