ADVOCAP Takes Part in WISCAP Advocacy Day

posted April 10, 2025

On April 8 and 9, members of the ADVOCAP team participated in WISCAP’s annual Advocacy Day in Madison. WISCAP, Wisconsin’s official statewide network of poverty-fighting agencies, hosts this event to support community action across the state and create opportunities for collaboration with legislature.

ADVOCAP staff attended a day of advocacy training and also met with legislators to discuss the impact of our programs for low-income individuals. Our Executive Director, Tanya Marcoe, co-hosted a WISCAP breakout conversation with Marc Perry of Community Action, Inc., highlighting pressing childcare issues in our service areas. ADVOCAP presented our upcoming Childcare Incubator project and its innovative approach to addressing the affordable childcare shortage in Oshkosh.

ADVOCAP’s Incubator will directly address this crisis by recruiting and supporting new childcare providers. By combining workforce development, poverty reduction, and sustainable childcare expansion, the Incubator represents a transformative investment in the community’s future. Learn more about the Incubator here.

We’re grateful to WISCAP for organizing this event and to the legislators who took the time to meet with us. We hope to have many more opportunities to continue the conversation about how we can work together to build strong, self-sufficient communities.
