Today, ADVOCAP spoke in front of the Joint Committee on Finance to emphasize the critical need for state investment in childcare initiatives in the 2025-27 budget.
Our Assistant Director of Head Start, Jenny Dehn, spoke about the importance of investing in Wisconsin’s childcare system and the severe economic impacts of a lack of affordable childcare. Jenny also discussed how a cut to Head Start funding will only compound the childcare crisis in our state and further hurt our children, families, and communities. Our Executive Director, Tanya Marcoe, shared how our innovative Childcare Incubator project in Oshkosh can be part of the solution, designed to expand affordable childcare access and support small businesses in the region.
We thank the Committee for their time and attention, and we’re grateful to all who came forward to advocate for essential community priorities like food security, senior services, childcare, and many others. Thank you to Northcentral Technical College for hosting today’s hearing.
We must continue speaking up for the programs our communities and economies need to remain stable and self-sufficient.
