At ADVOCAP’s Neenah office, our Senior Nutrition Program recently welcomed Amy from Senator Ron Johnson’s office for a visit centered on the impact and importance of nutrition services for older adults across Winnebago County.
The Senior Nutrition Program ensures that older adults and some individuals with disabilities have consistent access to nutritious meals and, equally as important, meaningful social connection.
In 2025 alone, the program supported 861 individuals through:
- 87,375 home-delivered meals
- 17,695 congregate meals
- 6,104 carryout meals
These numbers represent more than meals, reflecting moments of care and connection for individuals who might otherwise face social isolation or food insecurity.
During the visit, we spent time with ADVOCAP delivery drivers and observed the coordination that makes this work possible each week. Meals provided by our partner, Canteen, arrive at our Neenah site and are loaded by drivers into ADVOCAP vehicles before heading out across our 14 delivery routes.
A key focus of the discussion was the human connection behind the program. For nearly half of participants, the meal delivery driver may be the only person they see on a given day. Each delivery becomes more than a drop-off, it’s a wellness check and a moment of connection that helps reduce isolation and supports mental wellness.
The visit also highlighted how meals are developed to meet nutrition guidelines, ensuring they provide balanced support for health and quality of life.
Programs like ADVOCAP Senior Nutrition rely on strong partnerships and committed staff who understand the importance of both nourishment and connection. We are so grateful for our drivers, who bring care and compassion to our community every day, and whose passion truly makes a difference in the lives of our neighbors. We thank Amy for her time and engagement with our team during her visit.
