ADVOCAP is proud to congratulate our Planner/Grant Writer, Deb Shepro, on earning the Certified Community Action Professional (CCAP) credential — a nationally recognized designation that reflects excellence in leadership, strategic thinking, and commitment to Community Action.

The CCAP credential reflects a dedication to the vision and values of the Community Action movement, as well as knowledge and leadership within the Community Action Network. To earn the certification, Deb completed a multi-phase process that included a proctored exam and an in-depth written assessment focused on modern poverty-reduction strategies.

Deb’s ADVOCAP story

Deb has been part of the ADVOCAP team for over 24 years. She began her career as a Family Development Specialist with Head Start, fostering childhood development and supporting children and families for six years, before leading ADVOCAP’s Volunteer Services department for 15 years, supporting older adults through volunteer opportunities and services that connect them with their communities. In her current role as Planner/Grant Writer, she develops grant proposals and manages grant reporting; leads the agency’s Community Needs Assessment through survey development, data analysis, and comprehensive reporting; serves as ADVOCAP’s CAP60 database administrator to ensure organizational data is accurately documented and maintained; and leads ADVOCAP’s Employee Engagement Committee, one of her greatest passions in her role.

Throughout her career at ADVOCAP, Deb has been committed to ensuring the voices and experiences of individuals and families are reflected in the organization’s work.

“Every person matters. Everyone has the right to be heard, and everyone deserves the opportunity to succeed,” says Deb. “Becoming a CCAP has strengthened my ability to ensure these core values remain at the forefront of our strategic work at ADVOCAP.”

What this means for ADVOCAP

Deb’s achievement strengthens ADVOCAP’s capacity to create opportunities across Fond du Lac, Green Lake, and Winnebago counties by reinforcing the planning, leadership, and Community Action expertise that guide our work. Her commitment to the people and communities we support reflects the values at the heart of ADVOCAP’s mission and helps ensure we continue responding to community needs with intentional, data-informed strategies.

Congratulations, Deb, on this amazing accomplishment! ADVOCAP is fortunate to have team members like you who bring their expertise and dedication to the work we do across our communities.
