December 30, 2025
We are honored to be recognized as one of Fond du Lac County’s 2025 People of the Year. In November, FDL Reporter asked readers to help identify this year’s People of the Year, accepting nominations for people they thought made a difference in the community. FDL Reporter added some of their own nominations, then narrowed the list down to the final list here.
While ADVOCAP is listed by name, this recognition truly belongs to our team — the staff, volunteers, and partners who show up every day with compassion, creativity, and a deep commitment to our community. Throughout 2025, their work has taken many forms.
At the Opportunity Center in Fond du Lac, our staff and volunteers expanded access to resources and support for individuals seeking stability. At our Fond du Lac office, we joined partners in increasing access to life-saving harm-reduction tools, making Overdose Aid Kits more widely available. And in the fall, we published our Community Needs Assessment — a process that analyzes community voices and local data to ensure programs not only respond to emerging challenges but also reflect the needs and experiences of the people we work alongside.
These efforts, which were included in the People of the Year article, represent just a fraction of what our teams take on each year. They do all of this, and so much more, with the shared goal of helping people access opportunities, overcome barriers, and build toward long-term stability.
Community action is a collective effort
At its core, community action is rooted in collaboration. None of this work happens alone, and we are grateful to partner with so many organizations and neighbors who care deeply about our community.
We also want to congratulate everyone recognized on this year’s People of the Year list. Each individual and organization brings something unique and essential to Fond du Lac County. And to the many others not named but making an impact every single day — your commitment makes this community a better place for all of us. The work you do matters, and we are proud to stand alongside you.
As we enter a new year, ADVOCAP remains committed to listening, learning, and responding to the evolving needs of our neighbors. We are grateful for this recognition, but even more grateful for the opportunity to do this work in such a connected and caring community.
