ADVOCAP’s Head Start program is accepting applications for a Family Development Specialist at our Fond du Lac Head Start Center. Position will begin immediately! Head Start prepares children ages 3-5 with quality early childhood education in Fond du Lac and Green Lake counties. We help families reach financial, career, and educational goals, while building resilience and confidence for the entire family. This position builds nurturing relationships with low- income families to identify barriers to self-sufficiency. This position will establish goals for independence and self-sufficiency with assigned families and serve as a support resource for assigned children and families.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
  • Administer family assessments with the objective of identifying barriers to self-sufficiency.
  • Establish a family partnership agreement and goal setting to work towards independence with each assigned family.
  • Facilitate use of ADVOCAP and community resources for families and serve as a support resource to assigned families.
  • Recruit children and families for the Head Start program and ensure full enrollment of federally funded slots.
  • Ensure that enrolled children and families have all required enrollment, registration, and health documentation as required by funding sources.
  • Plan and implement meaningful parent education workshops around topics surrounding parenting and self-sufficiency.
  • Recruit families to serve on the Head Start Policy Council and ensure their attendance and participation.
  • Promote and ensure child attendance in the Head Start program.
  • Maintain professional relationships with all program families.
  • Staff are responsible for supporting child safety and program operations as needed. Duties may include child supervision, bus monitoring, kitchen or meal service support, classroom assistance, and other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the program and ensure compliance with Head Start performance standards. Employees must remain flexible and responsive to operational needs to ensure the safety of children and the effective delivery of services.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year college/university and 19-24 months of previous work experience are required to meet job standards
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and travel occasionally up to 50% of time using a personal vehicle
  • CPR certified or willing to obtain
  • Physical/tb/drug screen and comprehensive background check required
  • Reliable attendance and a professional work ethic

 

SALARY & BENEFITS

This full-time position will work 36 hours per week, Monday through Thursday, with occasional Fridays and weekends. Starting wage is $22.00 per hour, based on experience. This position is for the program year, with summers off, and will start in mid-August. Benefits include health, dental, vision, life, short- and long-term disability, vacation, sick and holiday pay, and our employer contribution 401k.
