ADVOCAP Announces 2025 Volunteer Service Award Recipients

May 28, 2026

ADVOCAP is proud to announce the recipients of the 2025 Volunteer Service Awards. Each year, these awards honor individuals whose service positively impacts families and individuals throughout Fond du Lac, Green Lake, and Winnebago counties. The recipients were recently recognized during ADVOCAP’s annual celebration and awards presentation for their generosity and commitment to serving others.

Nick Teifke (Fond du Lac County)
Nick Teifke exemplifies the heart of volunteerism through his dedication to individuals and families experiencing homelessness and hardships in Fond du Lac. Through his leadership at Hope on the Block, Nick helps connect community members to food, hygiene supplies, meals, and other essential resources, and responds to urgent community needs with compassion and dignity.

In addition to his direct service work, Nick actively partners with organizations, volunteers, and community groups — including ADVOCAP — to strengthen collaboration and expand support for our neighbors. Despite working a full-time job, he continues to dedicate countless volunteer hours to helping others and inspiring community action.

Linda Bertz (Green Lake County)
Linda Bertz plays a vital behind-the-scenes role in helping ensure families in Green Lake County can access food and essential resources at the pantry, efficiently and with dignity. Linda supports pantry operations through organizing donations, preparing distribution areas, and managing important operational details.

In addition to her pantry service, Linda also volunteers weekly at the local animal shelter, helping care for cats and kittens awaiting adoption. Over the past six years, she has contributed more than 3,000 volunteer hours to organizations in her community. Her quiet dedication, reliability, and compassion make a lasting impact that ripples throughout Green Lake County.

Joan Fleischer (Winnebago County)
At 90 years old, Joan Fleischer has volunteered with ADVOCAP for more than 23 years as a meal site manager in Winneconne. Known for her reliability and generous spirit, Joan rarely misses a day and continually goes above and beyond to brighten participants’ days with birthday cards, treats, and thoughtful gestures.

Joan’s compassion and commitment to helping others have made her a beloved part of the ADVOCAP community. Her kindness, positivity, and dedication truly represent the spirit of volunteerism and community service.

ADVOCAP is grateful for the dedication of Nick, Linda, and Joan, and for the impact they continue to make throughout our communities. Their service reminds us that compassion and a willingness to help others can create true, lasting change for our neighbors.
