We were honored to welcome Governor Tony Evers to our Oshkosh office this week to see firsthand how ADVOCAP’s Weatherization Program is improving homes and lives across our region.
The visit highlighted the importance of keeping energy affordable for Wisconsin households. As Governor Evers shared on his Facebook page, he stopped by ADVOCAP “to highlight our work to eliminate the sales tax on household utilities across our state.” During the visit, he and his staff learned how ADVOCAP, through programs including Weatherization and WHEAP, helps families reduce energy costs and improve comfort and safety in their homes.
Through our Weatherization services, ADVOCAP helps households make their homes healthier, safer, and more energy efficient, supporting families on their path to self-sufficiency. Last year, our team improved more than 460 homes across Fond du Lac, Green Lake, and Winnebago Counties. This work also benefits our local economy—ADVOCAP invested over $2.1 million with local contractors and vendors to complete these improvements.
The Governor’s visit comes at the start of Wisconsin’s heating season (October 1 – May 15), when eligible households can also receive help with heating and electric bills through WHEAP. Together, these programs ensure that more families can stay warm, safe, and energy secure through the winter months.
We’re grateful to Governor Evers and his staff for taking the time to visit, learn about the impact of these programs, and connect with the team who makes it all possible.
