This week, members of ADVOCAP’s staff and board had the opportunity to attend and participate in the 2025 WISCAP Poverty Matters Conference at the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells. This annual event brings together Community Action Agencies and partner organizations from across Wisconsin to share strategies, explore emerging trends, and strengthen collective efforts to promote economic opportunity and self-sufficiency.
This year’s conference opened with a keynote address from our Executive Director, Tanya Marcoe, who gave a presentation on ADVOCAP’s Childcare Incubator in Oshkosh — an innovative initiative designed to help address Wisconsin’s childcare shortage while supporting local families and small business development. Her keynote highlighted how community-driven solutions can create meaningful, sustainable impact for families and our regional economy.
We were also thrilled to celebrate Mindi Multhauf, ADVOCAP’s 2024 Rosalie Tryon Barber Self-Sufficiency Award recipient, who was honored with the WISCAP Self-Sufficiency Award during the conference. This statewide recognition celebrates individuals who, with support from their local Community Action Agency, have overcome barriers, achieved self-sufficiency, and are building brighter futures for themselves and their families. Congratulations, Mindi!
Thank you to WISCAP for hosting another inspiring conference, and to our fellow Community Action Agencies for the work you do every day to strengthen Wisconsin’s communities. ADVOCAP is proud to be part of this network working together to end poverty and expand opportunity for all.
