This afternoon, ADVOCAP was grateful for the opportunity to host a roundtable discussion on Medicaid with Governor Tony Evers, Wisconsin Department of Health Services Secretary Kirsten Johnson, and Wisconsin Medicaid Director Bill Hanna. We were also joined by Wisconsin State Representative Lori Palmeri, community organizations, and parents who are directly impacted by Medicaid programs in Wisconsin.
Medicaid is essential in our state — 1 in 5 Wisconsinites rely on it. It supports our elderly and disabled neighbors, as well as children, pregnant women, and adults with limited incomes. Programs like Family Care, IRIS, BadgerCare, Home & Community Based Services, and Family Planning are all part of Medicaid, helping families stay healthy, workers stay employed, and loved ones receive the care they need.
At ADVOCAP, healthcare consistently ranks as a top need for the individuals we serve. Without Medicaid, countless families would face devastating choices between employment, caregiving, and their health.
Thank you to everyone who shared personal stories and insights at the roundtable. Your voices are reminders that Medicaid is not just a healthcare program — it sustains dignity, economic stability, and community well-being. Cuts to Medicaid would affect everyone, not just those who receive its services. We must continue to protect and strengthen it.
